The focus here is radio equipment aboard an airplane, with Maj. J.O. Mauborgne of the Army Signal Corps tied to an aircraft radio transmission dated November 24, 1925. Mauborgne was a prominent figure in early American military radio and later became known for his cryptographic work, including the one-time pad he developed with Gilbert Vernam. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C. commercial studio, documented many government and public events of the period. The glass negative may show streaks and blemishes from the natural deterioration of its original coating.
