Mrs. Coolidge, the First Lady Grace Coolidge, stands with a Young Women's Christian Association delegation in this glass negative dated December 2, 1925, during her husband's presidency. The National Photo Company, a commercial studio that documented Washington life in the 1910s and 1920s, made the image, and its glass plates came to the Library of Congress as a gift in 1947. Streaks and blemishes on the plate come from the natural deterioration of its original coatings.
