A vertical section and plan of skylights, drawn in ink and wash, shows how light was meant to pass through a roof and into the rooms beneath it. Skylights like these were common in large public buildings of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, where architects relied on daylight to light reading rooms, halls, and galleries. The record places the sheet in the Library of Congress's Architecture, Design and Engineering drawings, a collection that preserves technical plans for the buildings and fittings the Library has occupied. Its reference copy is held in the Prints and Photographs Division.
