Two yachts, the *Hussar* and the *Anoatok*, are named in the title of this glass negative, which is dated July 4, 1898. The record's attribution is tentative, but the subject is probably a racing day at the Larchmont Yacht Club on Long Island Sound, a popular summer setting for New York-area sailing. The Detroit Publishing Company, which produced views of resorts, cities and landscapes across the United States, made many images of such summer scenes. This 8 x 10 inch plate is a useful record of the period's yachting culture and of the company's working methods.
