Set apart from the other panels in its series, this silkscreen poster centers on the Tea Water Pump, a public source whose water was prized for brewing tea. Made under the Federal theater Project of the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s, it presents the city's water supply as civic history for a Depression-era audience. The record dates the scene to 1699, while its subject headings point to 1750, so the exact moment is uncertain. Both dates fall in the colonial years, before New York's later waterworks changed how residents got their water.
