Seen from above, the Cunard liner Mauretania sits in New York harbor in a photograph dated to about 1920 and credited to Airmap Corp. of America. Built in Britain and launched in 1906, the Mauretania was among the fastest and most celebrated passenger ships on the North Atlantic, and she held the transatlantic speed record for many years. By the time this view was taken, she was a fixture of the run between Europe and New York, carrying travelers into one of the busiest ports in the world. The date and photographer come from an old caption and have not been fully confirmed, so they are worth checking against other sources.
