The White Star liner *Olympic* entered service in 1911 as one of the largest passenger ships afloat, and here a group of tugboats works to guide her toward the pier. Docking a vessel of her size in crowded harbor waters required close coordination, and the tugs' lines and positioning show that effort. The print was made by William H. Rau, a Philadelphia photographer and printmaker who copyrighted it, and it captures the period when transatlantic liners were among the most striking sights in New York Harbor.
