Titled simply "The wedding," this stereograph card was copyrighted by the Standard Scenic Co. and carries the number 1659 (8). Dated to about 1906, it belongs to the era when stereoviews were a common parlor entertainment. Two nearly identical photographs printed side by side were seen through a hand-held stereoscope, which created a sense of depth. Commercial publishers like Standard Scenic issued such cards in large series on everyday subjects, so scenes of courtship and marriage were a familiar theme. The record's details come from an old caption card and are unverified.
