Several trotters, each pulling a light two-wheeled sulky, race along a track with a grandstand rising behind them. Russell, Morgan & Co. printed this color poster in Cincinnati in 1891. The firm produced large lithographed stock sheets like this one, which could be reused to advertise fairs, tracks and sales. Harness racing was a popular spectator sport in the late nineteenth century, and the design shows the speed and crowds that drew people to the tracks. The record notes that its caption information is unverified and has been revised over time, so the specific event this poster may have promoted is not known.
