Rather than showing soldiers in combat, this 1919 recruiting poster presents the Army Ordnance Department as a place to learn skilled trades. Six captioned scenes show recruits practicing acetylene welding, lathe work, and ammunition storage, plus a class in theoretical optics, a class studying the range finder, and a mobile equipment repair truck. Issued the year after the armistice, when the Army was shrinking, it was aimed at young men who wanted technical training and a steady trade. It is numbered as the third in the Ordnance series and carries a July 1919 Adjutant General's Office reference.
