Theodore Roosevelt reviewed a parade in Canton, Ohio, on September 30, 1907, during McKinley Memorial Day, a local observance honoring William McKinley. McKinley, a Canton resident, had been assassinated in Buffalo in 1901, and his hometown kept his memory alive with commemorations that drew visitors from across the region. This stereograph, a pair of nearly identical photographs mounted on a card for viewing through a stereoscope, was a popular format of the period, giving street scenes like this one a sense of depth. The card's caption tags list it under processions, and its printed date of early October 1907 is noted as unverified.
