The house at 605 Trumbull Avenue belonged to George G. Booth, a Detroit newspaper editor who later helped found Cranbrook, the school and arts campus in Bloomfield Hills. The title is a cataloger's best guess, and the residence was identified only through a later 1995 annotation. The glass negative, eight by ten inches, is part of the Detroit Publishing Company collection, whose photographers recorded the city and the surrounding region in the years before 1920. The landscaped grounds give a sense of how well-off Detroit families laid out their private gardens in that period.
