Palm trees line the grounds of the Hotel Palm Garden, with the Pacific surf at Coronado Beach just beyond, in San Diego, California. By the 1920s, the Coronado peninsula across the bay from San Diego was a fashionable destination for travelers seeking mild winter weather. This stereograph was issued by the Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, a major publisher of stereo cards. Viewed through a stereoscope, the paired photographs gave a three-dimensional effect, and cards like this were sold as souvenirs and as a form of armchair travel.
