A glass negative of the interior of the Trew Motor Co. in Washington, D.C., it captures a commercial space from around 1920, when the automobile was becoming a fixture of city life. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio that documented the city in the early 20th century, made the image, and its collection came to the Library of Congress as a gift in 1947. The title comes from the studio's own unverified notes, and the date is inferred from other negatives in the same range. Viewers should also expect streaks and blemishes, which are typical of aging glass plate coatings.
