Interiors like this one of the Trew Motor Co. capture a Washington business at the moment cars were shifting from luxury goods to everyday purchases, around 1920. The National Photo Company, a commercial firm that recorded the city's streets and businesses on glass negatives in the early 1900s, made the picture. Its title and location come from unverified notes, so the exact place should be treated as provisional. Faint streaks across the glass reflect natural deterioration of the original coating, which is part of the negative's physical history.
