Labeled "Princess Bebesco" on its negative sleeve and dated January 2, 1922, this glass plate comes with a title the National Photo Company supplied and that has not been independently verified. The Washington, D.C., firm was a busy commercial studio that photographed politicians, society figures and visiting notables, and its negatives were later given to the Library of Congress as a large collection. Viewers should expect streaks and blemishes, since the original coatings on glass negatives of this age tend to deteriorate naturally over time.
