This glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection shows Roosevelt in a meeting with bankers, though the title comes from unverified caption data and the record gives no date. Bain News Service, the New York agency whose staff photographed public figures from the early 1900s onward, produced most of these negatives, and its work often captured officials and visitors during routine appointments. Roosevelt, president from 1901 to 1909, met regularly with financiers, and the period saw intense debate over banking and currency. The image is a useful record of how such meetings were documented, though its exact occasion and participants remain uncertain.
