The title points to the crew of a vessel named Roosevelt, a name many ships carried in the early twentieth century in honor of the president. The record does not say which one, and the date is missing, so the caption should be treated as unverified. One well-known candidate is the steamer Roosevelt, which Robert E. Peary used on his Arctic voyages and which was named for Theodore Roosevelt. Bain News Service made most of its glass negatives for newspaper use, so this group portrait likely served a press story rather than a formal record.
