Unlike many views of the capital's landmarks, this glass negative records an ordinary street address, 2347 Ashmead, in Washington, D.C. The title comes from notes on the negative sleeve and has not been independently verified, but the plate falls in the early 1920s, when the National Photo Company was photographing the city's streets and buildings. The 8 by 6 inch format was common for the period, and the streaks and blemishes across the surface are signs of coating deterioration over time, not part of the original scene.
