The poster's title, "Help!," is printed above the New Jersey Division of the Woman's Land Army of America, based at the state house in Trenton. Its caption, "Until the boys come back," presents farm work as a temporary wartime duty for women while men were overseas. The illustrator, C.D. Gibson, first published the design in *Life* magazine's May 23, 1918 issue, and it was then reprinted as a poster. The Woman's Land Army was organized in 1918 to fill farm jobs left vacant by the war, and the poster ties women's labor to the national push for food production and victory gardens.
