A color advertisement from the Berlin periodical *Motor*, this tearsheet carries the name "Fokker Schwerin," which ties it to the Fokker aircraft company founded by Dutch-born designer Anthony Fokker. Fokker's monoplanes, including the Eindecker fighter, were flown by German forces during the First World War, and the magazine's readers would have included those interested in the military and industrial side of aviation. Printed in 1917, when the war was in its fourth year, the advertisement shows how German manufacturers marketed military equipment to the public. Its full-color halftone reproduction was still a relatively new and costly technique for magazine advertising at the time.
