A fireplace set into the wall of this bedroom is the detail that defines the view, since the room's furnishings and light are otherwise hard to date. The catalog title was supplied by a cataloger, and the record names no specific house or owner, so the room's location is unknown. Its 8 by 10 inch glass negative reflects the large-format plate work common in the early 1900s, when the Detroit Publishing Company produced many views of American homes, towns and landscapes. Bedroom fireplaces were still common in houses of that era, before central heating became widespread.
