A Christmas tea party staged for the camera, issued as a stereo card by the Standard Scenic Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, around 1906. Viewed through a stereoscope, two nearly identical exposures merge into a single three-dimensional scene, a parlor pastime that was at its height in the early 1900s. The card was registered for copyright by W.S. Smith, and its subject, children gathered at a holiday table, reflects the sentimental domestic scenes that made Christmas a favorite theme of commercial photographers of the period.
