Ten small items, pasted or gathered on a single sheet, record a traveler's 1895 trip across the United States. They were taken from a page of an album labeled "America 1895," and the mix of postcards and advertising cards for hotels and attractions shows how travelers collected mementos before the picture postcard became a mass craze. In the 1890s, hotels, resorts, and sightseeing spots often printed colorful cards to attract guests, and travelers kept them as keepsakes or mailed them home. The sheet was given to the Library of Congress by L. Brummel in 1955.
