This poster sets three ways of travel side by side, an airplane, an ocean liner, and an automobile, all tied to Australia, which makes it stand out from many transport posters of its day. It was issued around 1935, when long-distance travel to Australia still depended on weeks at sea and when commercial air routes across the continent were new. The ticket agency named on it, Burnes, Philip & Co. Ltd., promoted bookings across all three modes at once, so the image works as an advertisement for the whole journey rather than for any single carrier. Its bold color lithography reflects the poster style favored by travel advertisers of the period.
