This sheet gathers nine small souvenirs from an 1895 trip across the United States, pasted into a scrapbook-style album labeled "America 1895" on what the record marks as page 33 verso. The mix of railway passes and hotel advertising cards reflects how travelers of the 1890s moved through the country. Rail lines were then the main way to cover long distances, and hotels competed for guests with printed cards that doubled as keepsakes. Together, the items offer a glimpse of a traveler's route and the printed material that came with it. The album was given to the Library of Congress by L. Brummel in 1955.
