A view of Rome, as this title puts it, sets the city apart from the other Italian landmarks on this board by treating the whole cityscape rather than a single monument. Rome's skyline has long been defined by its church domes and bell towers rising among ancient ruins, and artists from the 1700s onward made such panoramas, called vedute, for travelers on the Grand Tour who wanted a lasting record of the city. Looking closely, you can often see how the old imperial remains sit alongside Renaissance and Baroque churches, a layering that still shapes Rome today.
