Ardeshir Mohassess titled this 1978 pen-and-ink drawing *The king is always above the people*, a line that targets the distance between the Pahlavi monarchy and ordinary Iranians. The record files it under political assassinations, a reminder of the violence and unrest that gripped Iran in the 1970s as opposition to the Shah's government grew. Mohassess worked under heavy press censorship, so his sharp pen carried real risk as well as social commentary. The drawing was reproduced in a 1994 book of his work and included in a 2008 exhibition in New York.
