A color lithograph poster that pairs the Arc de Triomphe with a Lockheed Constellation airliner shows how air travel was sold in the 1950s. The Constellation, with its distinctive triple tail, was one of the most glamorous passenger planes of its day, and transatlantic flights carried travelers to Paris in hours rather than the week or more of an ocean crossing. Flower sellers and street vendors add the everyday Parisian scenes that travel advertising used to suggest a leisurely, romantic visit. The advertiser behind the piece is not identified, so the "Maximus" in the title is best read as unexplained.
