The title names a Detroit Electric station, but the National Photo Company's label is unverified, so the exact site is uncertain. The negative belongs to a large commercial set the firm produced in the early 1920s, when it documented cities and industrial works for clients across the country. The glass has aged unevenly, leaving streaks and blemishes in the coating, a common sign of deterioration in originals from this era, and those marks are worth noticing alongside the subject itself. Herbert A. French gave the collection to the Library of Congress in 1947.
