Columbus Savings & Trust Company gave its name to this view of a Columbus, Ohio, office building, made in the early twentieth century when banks were often among the most imposing structures on a downtown street. The picture survives as an 8 by 10 inch glass dry plate negative, a format that recorded fine architectural detail. The Detroit Publishing Company, which documented American towns and cities in the years around 1900, produced it, and the negative later reached the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado.
