This Salt Lake City poster marks the first anniversary of a local art center and invites residents to visit it. Printed in silkscreen in 1936, it was sponsored by the Federal Art Project, the Works Progress Administration division that employed artists during the Depression and supported community art centers across the country. Silkscreen gave these posters flat, bold color that reads clearly at a distance. A stamp on the back, dated November 28, 1939, shows the sheet was kept or circulated well after the anniversary it announced.
