The record places this glass negative at the Polo Grounds in New York for Game One of the 1912 World Series, which pitted the New York Giants against the Boston Red Sox on October 8. The Giants' home park was in Upper Manhattan, while the Red Sox played at Fenway Park, which had opened that April. A note in the record describes the view as looking across Fenway toward the right field stands, so the exact location is worth checking against the catalog. The George Grantham Bain Collection came from the Bain News Service, a New York agency that sold photographs to newspapers, which explains how so many early sporting images reached the public.
