The caption credits this glass negative to a meeting between Theodore Roosevelt and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, but the record gives no date or place and notes that the title is unverified Bain News Service data. Bain's agency supplied news photographs to newspapers from the early 1900s into the 1920s, and pictures pairing prominent leaders were a common part of that coverage. Roosevelt and the German emperor corresponded during his presidency, and Roosevelt met Wilhelm in Berlin in 1910, after he had left office.
