Roosevelt's Berlin stop came during his 1910 tour of Europe, a few months after he left the presidency and returned from his African hunting expedition. Berlin drew wide press attention then, and his meetings with German officials and Kaiser Wilhelm II were closely followed in newspapers on both sides of the Atlantic. The picture is a glass negative from the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress. The Bain News Service made many such images for newspapers and magazines in the early 1900s, and its captions were often compiled quickly, so the title and date here are unverified and should be checked against other sources.
