The record credits this glass negative to Princess Furstenberg, and the Bain News Service title places Theodore Roosevelt in Vienna, though the title itself is unverified and the record gives no date. Roosevelt traveled extensively in Europe after leaving the presidency in 1909, and his visits drew intense press attention, so pictures like this one show how closely his public appearances were followed. The Bain collection, built from wire-service and news work in the early twentieth century, is a useful record of that period, and this negative is one of many in it that document the Roosevelt years.
