Dated August 2, 1924, this glass negative shows a scoreboard invention credited to a man named Coleman, though the title comes from unverified information the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve. The company was a commercial studio in Washington, D.C., whose glass negatives capture the city and its people in the early twentieth century. This set reached the Library of Congress as a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947. Streaks and other blemishes on the glass likely come from natural deterioration of the original coatings, a common condition for negatives of this age.
