A glass negative of Lt. Col. Clarence O. Sherrill, dated March 23, 1921, on the National Photo Company's own notation. The record marks that date as unverified. The National Photo Company operated in Washington, D.C., during the 1910s and 1920s, and its large body of work documents officials, military figures and public life in the capital. This plate shows streaks and other blemishes from natural deterioration of its original coating, which are worth noting when viewing the image. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947.
