Helft dass wir den Siegeslorbeer erringen" urges Germans to help win the victory laurel, a 1917 appeal to buy into the state's war bonds. By then Germany was financing its armies largely through repeated loan drives, and posters like this one turned patriotic feeling into subscriptions. Its color lithograph process allowed bold, inexpensive runs, and its tall format was meant to catch the eye on a city wall. The poster now sits in a collection of political and contemporary history, where it shows how the home front was asked to pay for the war.
