The slogan on this 1915 color lithograph, *Zeichnet Kriegsanleihe*, means "Subscribe to the war loan," and Erwin Puchinger designed it for Austrian audiences. The record lists knights and mothers with children among its subjects, a pairing that tied the duty to fund the army to protecting the family at home. Like other belligerents, Austria relied heavily on war bonds to pay for the First World War, and posters like this one were displayed in public spaces to persuade ordinary citizens to lend their savings to the state. The print was later held by the Rehse Archiv für Zeitgeschichte und Publizistik, a German collection of wartime material.
