The card's title names a general's residence near Newark, New Jersey, but its subject headings place the view in Atlanta, Georgia, among Union soldiers and railroad tracks. That points to the Atlanta Campaign of 1864, when William T. Sherman's forces seized the rail hub in September and then wrecked its tracks and depots. The 1862 date and the question marks in the title suggest the cataloging is uncertain, so the subject headings offer the firmer guide to what the view shows.
