Here the travel writer and adventurer Richard Halliburton appears as a caricature by Miguel Covarrubias, the Mexican artist known for his sharp portraits of public figures in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Halliburton, author of popular travel books such as *The Royal Road to Romance*, suited Covarrubias's style, which turned famous faces into quick, witty character studies. The record notes that the drawing was published in *The John Riddell Murder Case*, a 1930 New York book, which ties it to the literary and magazine world of its time.
