Stereograph no. 2391 shows the Russian section of Machinery Hall at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. The fair marked the hundredth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, and countries sent machines, manufactured goods and art to show American visitors. The card was issued by the Centennial Photographic Company, which made such views for viewers using a stereoscope. Old caption notes also mention sculpture, which may have stood among the exhibits, though that detail is unverified.
