This stereograph shows a sculpture of the Minute Man, the armed citizen farmer who became a symbol of the Lexington and Concord fighting of 1775. The figure is best known through Daniel Chester French's Concord statue, and this card identifies it as a Centennial Exhibition piece. The 1876 fair in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, marked the nation's hundredth anniversary and drew large crowds to its sculpture displays and exhibition halls. The card was copyrighted by the Centennial Photographic Company, a firm that sold views of the fair to visitors who wanted to take the grounds home with them.
