Taken on December 5, 1929, this glass negative shows Herbert Hoover at a chamber of commerce event, nine months into his presidency. The title came from the National Photo Company, the Washington firm whose news and commercial work was later given to the Library of Congress, and the record notes that the label is unverified. Herbert A. French donated the plate in 1947. Expect streaks and blemishes on the glass, which result from deterioration in the original coating rather than from anything in the scene.
