Al. H. Wilson, billed here as the "golden voiced singer," headlines this 1906 poster for a touring show whose title promises yodels, new songs, and a scenic trip to Switzerland. Its colorful lithography came from the U.S. Lithograph Co. of Cincinnati and New York, which printed many of the bold, large-format posters used to advertise traveling theater and vaudeville acts in the early 1900s. The Alpine setting and yodeling reflect the period's fondness for exotic, picturesque stage entertainment, and the poster shows how producers sold a show through a single striking image and a few sweeping claims.
