This sheet shows the Capitol's Hall of Representatives before the room was finished, in the form of a framing and ceiling plan for its roof. Benjamin Henry Latrobe, the architect then in charge of the building, drew it on November 28, 1805, and wrote calculations across the paper. The House did not begin meeting in the chamber until about two years later, so the drawing records a room still under construction. Its close notations make it a useful look at how Latrobe worked out the structure behind the ceiling.
