This drawing shows the cornice and ceiling plan for the Hall of Representatives in the Capitol, the chamber that had to be rebuilt after British troops set fire to the building in August 1814. Its inscriptions record that a full-size copy went to William Blagden on August 19, 1815, and a half-size set followed on February 5, 1816, so the sheet served as a working tool for the stonecutters and craftsmen. It belongs to the Benjamin Henry Latrobe Archive, and it reflects the architect's effort to rebuild the interior in a way that matched the surviving walls while giving the room its new form.
