Lyon Park, a residential neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia, is the subject of this 8 by 6 inch glass negative, one of many regional views made by the National Photo Company. The company's photographers traveled widely through the Washington area, recording streets, houses, and community scenes, and the date range places this view in the years just after the First World War, when suburban building along the streetcar lines was expanding quickly. Streaks and blemishes on the glass come from natural deterioration of the original coating, a common condition in negatives of this age, and they are worth keeping in mind when judging the image.
