Ye Old Washington Inn, also recorded as the Timothy Ball House, stands in Washington Park in Maplewood, New Jersey, and this view was made there on February 9, 1921. The National Photo Company, a commercial firm that produced large numbers of views of American towns and landmarks in the early twentieth century, made the original glass negative, many of its images sold as postcards and prints. The record notes that the title is unverified, so the building's name and location are best confirmed against other sources. Viewers should also look for the streaks and blemishes on the glass, which come from natural deterioration of the original coatings rather than from the scene itself.
